“When March 9th rolls around I reflect on the day many years ago that a very skilled surgeon saved my life and I marvel at the gift I have received since.
I have learned that hope is essential to life and that the only thing you can really be sure of is the here and now! Don’t miss it!
I have learned that you need to ask for the help of others. It is selfish not to. I have learned that your friends will keep life feeling normal when everything feels like it’s falling apart, that money is stupid and that your 40lK can be spent on your “Trip of a Lifetime.”
I have learned that no one walks this Earth alone and that no matter how bad you think you have it, the person sitting next to you probably has it worse.
I have seen snowstorms and rainbows and have learned to always go left and that maybe there’s more than “my” way to get things done, although it is still the preferred method
I have learned that you can never spend too much time on the phone if you’re talking to the right person and that each day is a gift and being grateful comes easy with that in mind. I have learned when you have the opportunity to celebrate…. you should.
I have learned that your hair grows back and that the mirror is not the enemy… it is a true reflection of how far you’ve have come.
I have learned that my scars are a reminder that I fought harder than that which tried to hurt me.
I have learned that I am the luckiest girl alive, all I have to do is look around and see ALL the amazing people that love me and care about me.
I sit here composing this very personal account of these past years, tears well up, and slide down my cheeks, (no surprise there!) But they are tears of joy, of being overwhelmed with gratitude.
I have learned that if you “GET” to celebrate another birthday, you should rejoice as you add another candle, enjoy the biggest slice of cake, the one with the most frosting, and even go for that second scoop of ice cream!!
Life is GOOD… I am grateful and blessed for its gift.”
